General Artwork Submission Rules
Apr 19, 2026
WHY THESE RULES EXIST
There are A LOT of people who sell artwork online. I cannot possibly accommodate even a fraction of them. Some of those people are also scammers, while others take 6 months to finish a 2 week project. Others don’t know how to follow directions or are just plain bad. This method allows me to weed out those who can’t follow simple instructions, and lets me keep everyone and everything in one place for easy comparisons.
This is for a business. I will not be picking based on friendships, I will not be looking for favors, I do not care about the particular starving artist sob story (I’ve already gotten several before I started this project). This project, if handled poorly, could unironically destroy the business or damage it to the point where it becomes unsalvageable. The best person for the job will get that job. This allows me to look at everyone fairly.
RULES
1. All submissions will be sent to thedragonsartwork@gmail.com.
2. Do not contact me asking if I have picked someone out already, or if I’m considering you, or what you could do to convince me, or anything of the sort.
3. Every art piece request will have a specific title associated with the email. For example, if I am looking to do an update for the tea Puritea, I might request the title of the email be “Puritea Artwork Submission.” Any deviation from the title, such as “Hey there, here’s my Puritea Artwork Submission!” or “Puritea Artwork Submission, please take a look!” will be promptly deleted. This is the first test, to weed out those who can’t follow basic instructions.
4. If there is a specific art style I’m looking for or requesting, please make sure to only show me artworks that match what I am looking for. Blind submissions that clearly don’t match the artwork will have me more likely to overlook you in future requests.
5. I am specifically choosing hand drawn artwork to match my vision over AI to replace my AI placeholders. If I wanted to keep using AI, I would do that myself. Naturally, this would mean that I don’t want AI artwork in the projects, even partially.
6. If selected, unless you’re someone well established, or I have worked with you in the past, there will be NO payment until a rough sketch of the project is shown. This is so I can see that it is actually your work, and you didn’t take other people’s work to reference as your own, or use AI to make your own creations. This will be different if it’s run through a site like vgen that would make refunds easier to request.
7. I will have reasonable dates for completion. If you cannot finish by the deadline, you will either take a paycut and complete it (increasing each day it is late), or you won’t be paid at all and I will find a new artist. Deadlines can be extended if something comes up, but I will not tolerate being forever ghosted until the last minute, or pleas that come after the deadline.
8. If I end up making notable changes in original design after you complete it or in the middle of you working on it (I.E. I ask for a shift in a pose, or a change of clothing or background), you will be compensated for the extra time/work I put you through.
9. This should be common sense, but is becoming increasingly an issue; After payment is completed, and the artwork is mine to use for the business, I now own it. You cannot ask me to take it down later for whatever reason.
